What’s the longest trip you’ve ever taken?

In July of 2025, I took a 24-day solo road trip from TN to TX to CO to TN.
Everything changed on that road trip, and it didn’t.
On this trip, I made the decision to relocate to Waco.
I picked a new place to live, but I still felt connected to my home (and students) in TN.
I went back to a place that used to be my home, where the welcome mat was less of a hello, and more of a good to see you, but your journey here is complete.
I saw familiar faces of friends I love dearly, but I wondered when I would see them again.
I tried to reconnect with my first friend, but it turns out time passed, may just be that, without possibility for a future.
I grew up in some really painful ways on that trip, but I also learned that for 24 days, I could explore what hope could mean in my life.
I’ve been in Waco for 71 days.
Those days have been hard, hot, sad, strange, clarifying, happy, and new.
That road trip set my present into motion, so I suppose, I still wonder what other lessons I still have to learn about myself from it.
I know without a doubt though that trip taught me to keep chasing rainbows after every storm. Even when you’re in a desert and it seems like it’s never going to rain again.
That’s what hope is.
Sometimes, it’s waiting for the rainbow.
Sometimes, it’s praying for the rain.
