I’m a big fan of trees.
Whenever I go out in my town, my goal is usually to be in nature, somewhere near a tree, or many trees, rather.
Currently, I’m trying to get outside as much as possible while there are still some fall colors hanging on to their respective branches.
I really miss the aspens and blue spruces in Colorado, but Tennessee does have some pretty ones of its own.
I love the way light comes through the trees.
I love to place my hand on a tree and imagine how deep its roots go. I also enjoy when people see me doing this and look at me like I’m an actual treehugger.
The way trees move and talk in the wind used to freak me out when I started hiking alone, but now, their gentle creaking reminds me I’m not, in fact, alone.
Sometimes, I talk to the trees as if they are going to pop out a face and speak to me like an Ent.
I find special comfort and safety amongst the trees.
Those are the real trees.
I’m also a big fan of fake trees, at least Christmas ones.
My town puts up a large Christmas tree downtown in the square in front of the courthouse. I’ve grown rather attached to it over the last few years, so during the holiday season, I will often drive down there at night and sit by the tree.

Life may be crazy, but the trees are still there, and that’s a pleasant thought.
